The Basin VS Ringwood
This week we ventured out to Ringwood, looking to atone for easily our worst performance of the last two years which occurred in Round 3 against this opposition. We welcomed back Andrew Battye from the sniffles and Max Kruger returned from injury for his first game since Round 1. Josh Hensler & Andrew Cowlishaw made way.
Also on the morning of the game we were advised Jarrod Bell would miss through work commitments, with Jarrod O’Sullivan a late inclusion.
Mixed emotions for everyone concerned at quarter time, we had absolutely dominated the game, both in play and on the scoreboard, however we were also dealing with injuries to Andy Cultrera & Matt Killian, both of whom who would take no further part in the game. With available time for a rest on the bench greatly reduced due to these injuries, the remaining 20 players showed amazing resilience and strength throughout.
Unfortunately a few critical errors in the last 2 minutes put pay to a day where all in attendance agreed we dominated and deserved to win. Andrew Battye lead the way with 4 goals for the day, Will Gayfer & Matt Smith were massive for us again, ably supported by the usual suspect Clinton King & Trev Mills in the middle and Josh Lee damaging across half back.
The kick after the siren that gave Ringwood victory will burn for a little while yet, but rest assured all players and coaches will be very keen for redemption this week against cross town rivals Boronia on our deck this week.
