Despite what would be viewed by many in the EFL as a successful season for TBFC making the Division 3 finals in 2013, all players, coaches and supporters alike would have seen to the need for us to improve considerably in order to take the next step in 2014.
A major focus throughout pre-season has been on fitness, skills and decision making whilst fatigued.
Ben Gardner from Actibod was brought on to run the fitness aspect this pre-season, and without a doubt the boys are all fitter and stronger than they have been in previous years.
A few stand out performers on the track have come from new recruits Just Dight and Ben Searle who have set the standard throughout, and Jimmy Osborne, Cam Cripps and Jordan (Moey) Chircop have all taken considerable steps to becoming regular senior players this season.
Michael ‘Teak’ Thompson and Jake Cosenza have also done a majority of the pre-season and have put themselves right in contention to hold down a spot in the senior side throughout 2014.
Welcome returns to the Bearcave for premiership captain Daniel Den Braber, EFL Legend Todd Power (As Football Manager) , Aaron Brown from Coldstream & Rhys Fearn have provided great energy around the group.
All players (both young and not so young!) will have an opportunity to justify their credentials for a round 1 senior appearance in these practice matches.
With plenty of new faces amongst the group, the 2014 season will no doubt prove a very exciting time to be a part of The Basin Football Club.
