Under 14 Season Review
After winning last years C grade GF and being promoted to B grade our planning for 2015 was based on continuing to build relationships within our group, enjoying each others company, having fun and working on improving our overall strength, fitness and football in general in all assets of the game in a balanced environment. Areas of concentration being- General fitness levels, Core strength and conditioning, All footy skills-general and game sense, Game preparation and recovery, benefits of good nutrition and benefits of correct stretching techniques.
Our first game was a real eye opener going down to Rowville by 20+ goals. Welcome to B grade boys. Rowville were regraded to A grade and played off in a preliminary final in A division so a really strong side in our age bracket. I genially believe this loss was the catalyst for our improvement this season.
We followed up this loss with a couple of close wins only to be beaten by a very strong Chirnside Park side by about 4 goals. Our training standards had really lifted and a lot of the boys were doing some extra work outside of normal footy time. The improvement in these boys especially was obvious and a credit to them. As the training standards continued to improve our performance on game days did like wise. We found our form didn’t fluctuate and was really consistent for the remainder of the season winning all our remaining games and having a draw next time we played Chirnside Park. We finished the year off with 11 wins 2 losses and a draw. We played East Ringwood in the first final and were well beaten all day only to have one hell of a last quarter and win by one point in a real exciting game of footy. We played Chirnside the next week and were well beaten by about 8 goals. Preliminary final time and the boys out played Knox all day to win comfortably by about 5 goals. We battled hard all day in the GF but could not get the job done against Chirnside Park who were unbeaten all year and a worthy winner beating us by 5 goals.
Another fantastic year by the boys well done on a great year of footy and all the rest that comes with being involved with this fantastic group of families.
I would like to thank everyone who helped out this year really appreciated.

All the best to this fantastic bunch of Boys and the future looks great with these kids coming through.
