Senior Coaching Team 2018
Senior Coach – Justin Stanton
Justin’s 10 year senior playing career was with Berwick FC and Beaconsfield FC. He then held various coaching roles with ROC FC and Beaconsfield FC. Most recently in the 2017 season he was the Senior Assistant Coach and Senior Development Coach with Beaconsfield FC.
Justin comes from a successful and professional environment where he has played a key role in driving high standards, developing footballers and implementing a modern game style and the club is excited about what he can achieve with our young talented group.
Senior Assistant Coach – Jarrett Drake
Jarrett Drake is a football addict who has been involved in playing, supporting and coaching for the last 30+ years.
Jarrett played and coached for over 25 years for Kilsyth FC during his football career in the EFL, prior to raising a family, then moving on to enjoy watching his son play football at Berwick & Beaconsfield football clubs through juniors, and now to Seniors in the SEFNL.
Over his time at football clubs he has never been one to stand at the back of the crowd, and always keen to share his passion and knowledge of the game which has led him to undertake several coaching positions right through from juniors to seniors over his time, whilst also undertaking roles as a development coach for a number of years, coaching co-ordinator managing 24 junior teams and over 150 volunteers, through to last year assisting Justin Stanton the newly appointed senior coach.
Always one to have a laugh, Drakey loves a good nickname and ensures anyone that doesn’t have one, certainly will by the end of the season. He believes one of the most important things in football is building good relationships with your playing group, having a laugh and getting to know them as people off the football field as well as on it. Jarrett is keen to get to know everyone at the Cave and is sure that 2018 will be a successful enjoyable year.
Senior Assistant Coach – Matt Smith
Matt played over 300 games of senior football at The Basin and Vermont and had premiership success with both clubs. Matt was best known for his hard edged style and his ultimate professionalism on and off the field. Matt has had many individual accolades including multiple best and fairest awards, numerous EFL Team of the Year awards and he was selected in the Team of the Decade 90’s and 00’s at The Basin Football Club.
Matt has also held various roles including captain, football manger and was the senior playing assistant coach in 2006 & 2007 at The Basin. After retirement, Matt has coached juniors and is now ready to have another crack at a senior role.
Matt’s experience, professionalism and leadership make him a great addition to the 2018 coaching team.
Senior Assistant Coach – Luke McPhee
This will be Luke’s second year with The Basin FC and has already shown his outstanding leadership traits and modern football knowledge. Luke played his senior football with the East Ringwood FC until he was struck down by injuries. Luke will once again be a valuable asset in our coaching team.
We look forward to what is shaping up to be a big season in 2018.
